HSE Dublin South Psychology

In HSE Dublin South Primary Care Psychology services, we provide psychology services directly to children, teenagers, parents, adults and older adults. We may also work through others who are working directly with children or adults.

Our services include:

  • Individual psychological assessment, consultation and intervention services, psychological counselling and therapy services, parent child work
  • Parent, Teen and Adult/Older Adult Advice Clinics – offering consultation, advice and referral triage services (helping direct and support referrals on to other services if needed)
  • Group work, parenting courses, workshops and other courses.
  • Community and staff psychoeducation
  • Supported online therapy programmes
  • Clinical consultation to other staff & support of others in the psychological aspects of their work
  • Interagency work – liaison, direct and indirect consultation
  • Critical Incident and Major emergency Psychosocial supports

We are best suited for when there may be mild to moderate mental health and developmental queries and needs, including cognitive, emotional, behavioural, social, relationship and attachment issues. We may be involved in screening and signposting those with more complex difficulties on to secondary or tertiary care service, sometimes following some screening or some primary care assessment and intervention.

We are very mindful of the barriers that can exist to accessing our services for some communities and we are particularly keen to ensure as much  ease of access as possible for all. Referrals from parents from communities that may experience marginalisation are particularly welcome. We strive to embody the HSE values of care, compassion, trust and learning in all our interactions with parents and families and to be flexibly adapt how we offer our service in response to what parents need.
