Lucena CAMHS

Lucena CAMHS provides specialist assessment and treatment to young people up to age 18 who are experiencing mental health difficulties in the moderate to severe range. This is provided by a multidisciplinary team lead by a Consultant Psychiatrist and includes, psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, speech and language, occupational therapy and social care disciplines. Referral is medical only through the GP or other doctors. Referrals relate to the following in the moderate to severe range: anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation with intent, eating disorders, psychosis, bi-polar and ADD/ADHD. As CAMHS is the second tier of the range of the mental health services, young people should have accessed mental health services at primary care level before presenting to CAMHS unless they are acutely unwell or their symptoms have progressed rapidly that require an assessment from a CAMHS service.

We always work with the family and the wider context such as school etc as required as well as the work with the young person. We offer a range of individual and group therapies.

Attendance at CAMHS is episodic as is the nature of mental health issues. Once discharged, re-referral is always possible should the need arise.

Lucena Clinic CAMHS is part of Saint John of God services and hospitality is one of our core values which extends to all, especially those who are marginalised in society.
