Southside Partnership – PEEP+ DLR

Southside Partnership works with communities, individuals, and agencies to tackle social exclusion. The PEEP+DLR initiative is our work with parents and their babies and toddlers in Shanganagh, Loughlinstown, Ballyogan, Mounttown, Balally and Hillview, where we work with family support partners to provide friendly, weekly parent and baby/toddler groups. We use a lovely programme called PEEP, Parents Early Education Learning Together Programme, which helps us all understand about baby and toddler development, and what it is like to become a new parent. Your baby/toddler learns to play with you, their most important person, while also learning how to play alongside other very young children. We have free play, snack time, circle time, song and storytime, and you get to talk to other parents and the staff. Parents tell us they begin to feel more confident as a parent; they see what their baby/toddler does is normal development; and when they needed some extra help with difficult circumstances, they felt understood, and supported until additional help could be found.

PEEP+DLR runs 33 weeks a year, during term time, and if you want to, you can stay for the first 2 years of your baby/toddlers life.

The PEEP+ groups have been designed with you in mind! Anyone who feels a bit isolated, or excluded from other things, or wants to attend a smaller group (max 8 parents, 8 babies/toddlers), we have a lot of experience including and welcoming parents and babies and toddlers like you!

Dads are also very welcome to attend the groups and they tell us the routine really helps them feel a sense of belonging; our groups are not mother and toddler groups, they are not women’s groups, they are parent and baby groups! We also welcome families who may be separated but co-parenting – families in these circumstances find the groups supportive.
